WHAT CITY?
Previously praised ideas of sterile order and strict logic of the cities were changed by a vision of a city as a positively conflicting and attractive space for the people. Utopias of the past received as much criticism as they received praise before. Environment started to be shaped by an ambivalent neoliberal market. This does not necessarily mean that contemporary society is unable to project the future. This does not mean that contemporary cities are not ideological creations and products of an utopian mindset.
The goal of these lectures is to discuss what is a contemporary city, what shapes its image, what role ideology takes and who has the power to make changes. Creation of visions, improvement of the spaces and attraction of the minds - it is everything what most of the competing cities do today. But is it possible for a city without cultural, political or social position to survive this competition?

NON-COLOBORATION - ON SCULPTURE
Today a lively discussion is going on about the collaboration among the representatives of various fields, including artists. But how does this cooperation is actually being realised? How do current political, economic, sociocultural and technologic shifts transform our perception of public spaces? Why are clients and the public not collaborating in face of new opportunities?
The twelfth discussion series organised by the Architecture Fund is aimed at learning to cooperate. The Mindaugas Navakas retrospective “Glory Was at the Fingertips“ taking place in the National Gallery of Art and the surrounding public spaces was chosen as the starting point. While discussing with the guests who have various experiences and answering the questions of the audience we will seek to understand the causes of non-cooperation among artists.

HOW DID I GET HERE?* NATIONAL IDENTITY IN ARCHITECTURE
Architecture creates living and social environment that reflects political and economic changes, lifestyle and history. It represents people that identify themselves with the region, country or one another. However at the same time it is used vice versa as a tool to construct identity. Post-industrialist society is often making architecture as a commodity or as an economic and political power symbol and rarely it represents country, nation or society. Naturally we ask if national identity in architecture is needed or even if it ever existed, isn’t it just a nostalgic myth, created and constructed story, symbol that one could sell and take advantage off.
Lithuania being part of the EU and in the globalizing world is trying to stand out as unique country and represent itself in architecture. However, in Lithuania, small nation with big and complex history, perception of the national identity is often confused, overlapped and probably have never been truly formulated. In the eleventh architecture [discussion] fund session with the lectures, discussions, excursions and exhibitions we will analyse the multidimensional and controversial theme of the national identity in architecture.
