Explore Finnish design phenomenon: - Aalto University Professor Pekka Korvenmaa

08
MAY 2013

Being a small country, Finland has a very strong design tradition. The Finnish design school presents many internationally known works that have become design icons and keep inspiring design developers worldwide.

Is this international fame just a closed case, to be penetrated by historical inquiry? Can it serve as a proactive repository in shaping the future? Can the past inform and inspire contemporary and future actions?

Nordic Council of Ministers Office invites you to explore roots and future of Nordic design at public lecture "Design History Meaning (s): Finland” with Aalto University Professor Pekka Korvenmaa.

The lecture will be held on 8 May at 5.30 p.m. at the National Gallery of Art at Konstitucijos Ave. 22 in Vilnius.

Dr. Pekka Korvenmaa is Vice Dean at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and professor of Design and Culture, Department of Design at the same university. He has published extensively on Finnish architectural and design history both in Finland and internationally since 1981.

Open lecture "Design History Meaning (s): Finland " is a "Club Norden" series event. Organizer of the series is The Nordic Council of Ministers‘ office in Lithuania. Event partners: Vilnius Academy of Arts, National Gallery of Art, Lithuanian Design Forum.

The event is free of charge with no registration.
