01
OCT 2016

The Architecture Fund and Congress on Public Spaces are proud to present an excursion “Parallel Public Spaces from Washington Square to the Egg" on the 1st of October, 2016, at 5PM in Vilnius.

The intriguing route, two guides and one aim – to get acquainted with shifting functions and aesthetics of public spaces. The tour is designed for journalists and urban explorers, who want to experience a new perspective on the capital of Lithuania based on parallel local and global understandings of what a public space needs and how it functions in the circumstances of crisis.

From the public square, to the space of civic action, from the old town palaces, to soviet residential districts and cultural centres of post-soviet transformation - the excursion will follow cultural heritage and urban (re)development sites in Vilnius. The tour will be guided by artists, recipients of the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts Gediminas and Nomeda Urbonas. The excursion is made possible by the largest international coach operator in Baltic Countries "Lux Express”. The duration of the tour is 2 hours, language - English. The route is created by Tomas Grunskis and Indrė Ruseckaitė.
