Kazakhstan - Lithuanian projects
November 11 (thursday), 18 o'clock, at Contemporary Art Center (Vokiečių g. 2, Vilnius) four projects were presented from competitions in Kazakhstan where Lithuanian architects received prizes.
Kazakh Drama Theatre (first prize). JAD and „Architektūros linija“. Architects: S.Pamerneckis, G.Čaikauskas, T.Mazūras, E.Geštautaitė, V.Pliadis, K.Tyla, A.Palšytė.
Russian Drama Theatre (first prize). „Trys A.M.“ and „SUTI“. Architects: K.Reimeris, A.Garšvaitė-Reimerienė, S.Norviliūtė-Majerienė, G.Klimavičius, M.Nekrošius, A.Siaurusaitytė-Nekrošienė, assitant M.Savickas.
Recreational center-park by Maibalyk lake (third prize). „Kristal Palace“ and ASA. Architects: S.Kuncevičius, M.Dagys, L.Kuncevičienė, Ž.Gudelis, A.Kuncevičiūtė, V.Jurgaitienė.
Kazakhstan History Museum (2-3 places in second phase). Gintaras Klimavičius, Gintaras Čaikauskas, Vytautas Pliadis.
Projects are interesting not only of received high places, but mainly because of their expression and unique interpretation of Eastern culture. Culture, traditions and history of Kazakhstan are reflected in proposals. High places in these competitions demonstrates that Lithuanian architects are able to cope with different situations and create architecture which is interesting not only to ourselves.
