BUILDING NARRATIVES.EIGULIAI - Presentation of the projects dedicated to Eiguliai
Building Narratives
How can the narratives and imagination change our approach towards the mass housing residential areas? Can the moments of everydayness in our apartments, courtyards, and streets trigger the beginning of fantastic events? Why the stories of our apartments, balconies, and walls can tell us much more than one would imagine?
Three Future architecture creatives – Sonja Lakič, Goda Verikaitė, and Povilas Vincentas Jankūnas – will invite to re-think and re-see the post soviet mass housing areas in general through their contextualized artistic research in Eiguliai.
That will be a triple event combining:
Imagination board game „Fantastiškas rajonas“ developed by Povilas Vincentas Jankūnas, maps and narratives created while playing it
An audio tour „Ką kalba Eiguliai“ by Goda Verikaitė merging speculative stories about/around Eiguliai
Session of photo-writing „P.S. I love you: love letters to/from Eiguliai“ as a research by Sonja Lakič
CREATIVES:
Sonja Lakič / Human being. An architect and a researcher. Holds a Ph.D. in Urban Studies. In love with the humankind and the (patterns of the) everydayness across the world. Operates across different disciplines and scales. Works visually, practices unconventional ethnography, and does storytelling mainly through photography. Interests: the post-socialist urban transformation; privatisation; homeownership; (right to) housing; informality; urban commons; building narratives; buildings as living archives.
Goda Verikaitė / A spatial designer from Lithuania, currently based in Rotterdam. Next to working in architecture studios, Goda is curating an experimental collective-platform for architecture and arts called No Purpose, which seeks for more process-oriented spatial practices. In her work, Goda looks into interdisciplinary approaches and speculative designs as tools to imagine future narratives.
Povilas Vincentas Jankūnas / A recent graduate architect / urban designer interested in the mediums of graphic design, comic books, video, and table games. Received a BA in Architecture at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University with an exchange semester at Umeå School of Architecture.
The event will take place on August 27th, Thursday, from 6 p.m. in the courtyard between Ukmergės str. 4, 8, 12, 16, and S. Žukausko str. 5, 9 in Eiguliai, Kaunas.
Building Narratives is a part of the Future Architecture platform and European Architecture programme 2020, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and a strategic partner Lithuanian Council for Culture.
