Referring to the perspective planning scheme of the territory of the Lithuanian SSR worked out in 1962-1967, Panevėžys was designed as the highest rank centre, i.e. the city of Lithuania. The aforesaid status determined both rapid growth of Panevėžys, development of residential and industrial districts and emergence of higher category objects with cultural, sports, educational, administrative and other purpose. This status also obliged to develop higher quality environment, architecture and form the face of the town. Thus, we invite to start an excursion from “Nevėžis” Hotel considered the symbol of Panevėžys, to visit different purpose objects of the Soviet city, to watch and assess changes in the function thereof, in the physical condition or in architectural features.
