Professor of Architectural Conservation at the University of Edinburgh and chair of Urbanism and Landscape within DOCOMOMO-International, a specialist in the modern built-environment debates and heritage of the 20th-21st centuries, author of a wide-ranging series of books.
This book pioneered at the scale of a single country (the UK) the methodology that integrated built-form analysis within a cultural-political narrative and interpreted the ‘housing movement’ as a field of titanic, unceasing struggle and conflict.
