The exhibition opens in Biržai - THE RESULTS OF TRAVELLING ARCHITECTURE WORKSHOP I
February 15 - March 7 "Travelling Architecture Workshop" exhibition will be on display in the Castle of Biržai.
The exhibition presents 16 unique projects in public spaces of small Lithuanian towns, which were implemented in July and August of 2013 summer. Children and young people of small villages together with architects, architecture students and other creative people researched their environment, created new and renewed existing spaces and small architecture objects not only for themselves, but for all residents.
The exhibition will be opened in Biržai together with children who participated in former workshops in the villages close by. The exhibition consists of nine portable, easily assembled stands which will be built by the project's organizers together with the kids during the opening.
In December of 2013 for the first time the exhibition was opened at the Vilnius University Library.
The Travelling Architecture Workshop aims to inspire Lithuanian cities and towns, communities and people to take care of their living environment and to create it themselves.
Travelling Architecture Workshop - the first large-scale project by Architecture [Children] Fund, which took place in 2013 during the summer holidays. It aims to draw children and village residents attention to the everyday human environment. The project seeks to demonstrate that to take care of the public environment and to foster real changes could be done without a lot of material and human resources.
Architecture [Children] Fund is a volunteering based initiative that develops and implements educational programs for children and youth about architecture and living enviroment.
